YES, HE CAN… FOR YOU!

Devotion by Micheal Woods, Executive Director

As we step into a new year, I want to share something with you that I pray will take up residence directly in your soul. It is a truth that not only activates your faith but also grows it. This simple and powerful phrase can renew your life: Yes, He will. When you embrace this truth, you will see your entire life impacted. You see, we’re made up of three parts—spirit, soul, and body. The believer’s spirit already knows this to be true. But when your soul (your mind, will, and emotions) comes into agreement with this truth, everything changes. In Acts chapter 12, Peter sits in prison, sentenced to die the next morning. King Herod had Peter under maximum security—guards at every door, chained between two soldiers. This wasn’t just confinement; this is death row. Peter’s execution was scheduled, planned, and politically motivated. The situation looked impossible.

But here’s what amazes me: In that same text, Peter is sleeping. He’s not tossing and turning. The very night before his execution, he was sound asleep. Why? Because the church was praying. And deep in Peter’s soul, he knew a truth that his circumstances did not reflect. The situation asks the question, Will God Do It? Peter knew the answer: Yes, He will. That night, an angel showed up, struck Peter on the side, and led him right past the guards. The iron gate opened by itself. Peter thought he was dreaming! When he finally realized it was real, he went to the house where believers were gathered, still praying for his release. He knocked on the door, and when a young girl recognized his voice, she ran and told the other believers, but they did not believe her. Although they were praying for a miracle, they couldn’t quite imagine it happening that way. But God did. Friend, that same God and His power are available to you. This is the characteristic of God that will transform how you see every impossible situation: He is no respecter of persons. That means that if God did it for Peter, He will come through for you. If He did it for Moses, He will do it for you. If He did it for David standing before Goliath, He’ll do it… for you.

Here’s what I’ve learned: we often get stuck with mere head knowledge that God can do anything. We know He’s sovereign. We know He’s powerful. But imagine the breakthrough that can happen when you believe deep in your soul that yes, He will do it, and you personalize it for you. Psalm 37:5 says clearly: “Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him also, and He will do it.” Not maybe. Not if your behavior or past is good enough. He will do it. Recently, I’ve been moved to pray for people I’ve never met—people walking through difficult circumstances.

I’ve prayed for pastors whose homes are being destroyed, a mother whose child experienced a medical miracle, and yet another grieving mother carrying her seven-year-old daughter’s casket while giving God glory. These aren’t situations anyone would choose. But in each case, I saw people who understood something profound: God leads us through the storm. He doesn’t just stand beside us while we figure it out—He takes our hand and says, “Walk with Me. I’ve got you.” Friend, maybe you’re in the middle of something that seems impossible right now. Maybe you’ve been praying, trusting, and believing, but the situation hasn’t changed.

Can you imagine what could happen when you grasp this truth: even when God hasn’t changed your circumstance yet, He’s changing you. He will lead you through. And because He’s no respecter of persons, what He did for them, He’ll do for you. There’s an old song that ministered to my soul as a young man: “My soul has been anchored in the Lord.” The lyrics remind us that storms will keep raging, winds will keep blowing, but our soul can remain anchored— steadfast and unmovable—because we trust the One who leads us through.

I can make this promise to you with full confidence: Your life will be transformed when you change your posture. Not your physical posture, but your spiritual posture in the Kingdom. What if instead of just trying to weather the storms, instead of merely surviving, you stood up straight in your faith and declared: “I’m anchored in the Lord, and I’m not going anywhere. Whatever the enemy throws at me is not enough to make me give up.”? You can discover a strength you never knew you had when you’re anchored in God. Regardless of how hard the winds blow, you can stand firm knowing: Yes, He will. He’ll do it for me. Not because you’re perfect. Not because you’ve earned it. But because God loves you and always has. When He was providing for those heroes of the faith, He knew you would need examples to follow, not just heroes to admire. So today, let this truth rise up in your soul: God will do it. Whatever you need, whatever seems impossible—yes, He will.
